Install 5.6 on Ubuntu / Debian using Launchpad

The Ondřej Surý PPA (Personal Package Archive) is a common way of installing specific versions of the PHP runtime on Ubuntu using the APT package manager.

Installation Guide

Before you can begin using PHP versions from this repository you must first add the PPA to your list of allowed sources:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php
sudo apt-get update

# To update these modules use the installation helper below
sudo apt-get install php5.6-cli php5.6-fpm php5.6-opcache
